The city of David
Just as Bathsheba remained ‘Uriah’s’,1) Bethlehem remained Davids city.2) Neither Emperor Augustus nor King Herod could change that. Nor the UN or the so-called Palestinian authority nowadays.
Bethlehem, bread-house, is the city of David.
And that is exactly where He, the promised Son of David, came into the world. On occupied territory. Where there was room for much and many, except for ’them.’
There, in a manger, the Bread was laid. Low enough to fill hungry with good things, and to send rich empty away.
Have a satisfying Christmas, with the Bread of Life from Davids city!

Zoals Bathseba ‘die van Uria’ bleef,1) zo bleef Bethlehem de stad Davids.2) Geen keizer Augustus of koning Herodes kon dat veranderen. Evenmin de VN of de zogenaamde Palestijnse autoriteit nu.
Bethlehem, het broodhuis, is de stad Davids.
En precies dáár kwam Hij, de beloofde Davidszoon, ter wereld. In bezet gebied. Waar voor veel en velen plaats was, behalve voor ‘henlieden.’
Daar, in een kribbe, werd hét Brood neergelegd. Laag genoeg om hongerigen met goederen te vervullen én rijken ledig weg te zenden.
Een voedzaam Kerstfeest toegewenst, met het Brood des Levens uit de stad Davids!
